Rachel Coomer

Communications, advocacy and strategy specialist

Rachel Coomer is the Associate Director for Policy and Communication at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this role she supports the implementation of a range of programmes, many of which are funded through the U.S President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Prior to joining CDC Namibia in 2017, Rachel worked for the Legal Assistance Centre for 10 years as the Public Outreach Manager. She moved to Namibia in 2007, before which she lived and worked in the United Kingdom.

Rachel is a communications, advocacy and strategy specialist. She has international work experience and has developed numerous successful communication and advocacy programmes. She has experience working with all forms of media including animation, television, film, radio, print and social media.

Rachel has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oxford and a Masters (Cum Laude) from the University of the Western Cape.
