Image                   OYO is off to Germany& the UK

8 cast from the Namibian Odysseus selected for the exchange programes.

 

 

Just recently, OYO worked with 18 talented young Namibians on 'the Namibian Odysseus', a piec wich looked at the spread of HIV across Namibia by the migratory workforce, particulalry amoung young people who are in multiple relationships. The production was presented at the National Theatre on Namibia from 16-18 July.

The production recieved extremely good feedback from the press and audiences. following the presentation, two opportunities have been offered:

  • P.art.ners, a Berlin-Windhoek exchange program has invited 8 members of the cast, 2 oyo production staff and the director to go and work for 2 weeks in Berlin. the group will recieve training from OYO director Dr. Philippe Talavera as well as from German choreagrapher Volker Eisenach. they will be creating a new piece, that will be presented in Berlin. They depart on 06 October and return on 22 October 08.

 

  • LiveEd, a UK based exchange programe in collaboration with Sadlers Wells and Christian Aid, is inviting 8 members of the cast to work in London. Philippe will create a piece on discrimination, 'Alone' and British hip hop choreographers Skytilz and Flex will work with the group to create a piece on HIV transmission. Both pieces will be presented at the famous Peacock Theatre in London on 22 November. They will depart on 16 November and return on 24 November 08.
