A film version of OYO’s highly acclaimed production ‘five minutes of pleasure’ has been completed and will be ready for release in DVD format by January 2008.
The film represents the most recent turn in the ‘five minutes of pleasure’ project, which started in Spring 2007 when two teams of young writers from the UK and Namibia came together in Windhoek for a collaborative writing session sponsored by LiveEd. The outcome was two short plays that illuminated issues surrounding teenage pregnancy.
After being presented to over 8,000 people in tours that took in London, Windhoek and numerous schools in the Erongo and Kunene regions, the production received glowing reviews. Toivo Simaneka Toivo, a student of Petrus !Ganeb Secondary School in Erongo commented that ‘the show has a very positive message, it has no lacking and should be done throughout the country. It is motivating and I think it will encourage us the teenagers to not get involved in relationships while we are not ready’.
It is hoped that the film version will take the production and its message to ever increasing numbers of young people across Namibia. If you would like a copy of the film please email us at
